PRIMITIVO

PRIMITIVO – RED GRAPE FOR RED WINE Primitivo (which means “early ripening”) is a red grape that produces bold wines with smooth flavors of blackberry, dark chocolate and licorice.

As far as texture is concerned, this wine has a slightly oily, but a bigger and a bolder structure.

Originally from Croatia, it found his home in southern Italy, particularly
Puglia and in California, where it’s known as Zinfandel.

Primitivo tends to suits hearty dishes; a classic partner would be spit-roasted lamb. A lentil or bean stew, cooked in Primitivo and served with bacon, is another tasty dish with a Southern Italian flavor. As far as vegetables are concerned, this wine goes well with vegetables like roasted tomato, red peppers, beets and caramelized onion.
