PRIMITIVO
Primitivo (which means “early ripening”) is a red grape that produces bold wines with smooth flavors of blackberry, dark chocolate and licorice.
Primitivo tends to suits hearty dishes; a classic partner would be spit-roasted lamb. A lentil or bean stew, cooked in Primitivo and served with bacon, is another tasty dish with a Southern Italian flavor. As far as vegetables are concerned, this wine goes well with vegetables like roasted tomato, red peppers, beets and caramelized onion.
As far as texture is concerned, this wine has a slightly oily, but a bigger and a bolder structure.
Originally from Croatia, it found his home in southern Italy, particularly Puglia and in California, where it’s known as Zinfandel.Primitivo tends to suits hearty dishes; a classic partner would be spit-roasted lamb.
