The Cannonau grape is the most common black grape variety in Sardinia. Cannonau is a powerful, structured wine, with powerful tannins, low acidity and warmth. The bouquet is intense, enveloping and ample with red fruit such as cherries, red flowers, sweet spices, oregano and other aromatic herbs, myrtle, Mediterranean scrub and balsamic traits. The taste is intense, savory, not very acid, but with fine-grained tannins, but great intensity. Alcohol is never low.
Cannonau wine goes perfectly with all the recipes of the Sardinian culinary tradition, especially with savory and aged cheeses, with braised meats, game, roasts, red meats, and all preparations based on suckling pig, kid, lamb and wild boar.
