Marche is a region on the eastern side of central Italy that has long been considered as Italy’s one of the most popular tourist destinations. This area has a lot of attractive features: the numerous beautiful old towns, hills and mountains of the Apennines that embraces beaches of Adriatic sea with golden sand and crystal-clear water.
Marche is best known as a white wine region, although it is also home to some reds of very high quality. In terms of volume, the leading white varieties here are the ubiquitous Trebbiano (in various forms) and Verdicchio. Marche has been the home territory of the latter for more than 600 years. However, they also produce some outstanding red wines mainly in southern areas of Marche.
