The two most famous expressions of Barbera are Barbera d’Asti (DOCG) and Barbera d’Alba (DOC). The differences between the two wines are really minimal and the quality is always at the top in both cases.
Risotto and pasta with truffles are the best combinations of Barbera in the first course, while for second courses it goes perfectly with roasts and red meats, side dishes such as typical Piedmontese cheeses such as gorgonzola, toma and raschera.
